Pierre Omidyar co-funded Ukraine revolution groups
with US government, documents show

BY MARK AMES - FEBRUARY 28, 2014

Pando has confirmed that the American government – in the form of the
US Agency for International Development (USAID) – played a major role
in funding opposition groups prior to the revolution.

Moreover, a large percentage of the rest of the funding to those same
groups came from a US billionaire who has previously worked closely with
US government agencies to further his own business interests.....

But that’s not the shocking part.

What’s shocking is the name of the billionaire who co-invested with the US
government. Step out of the shadows….Pierre Omidyar.

Yes, the founder and publisher of Glenn Greenwald’s government-bashing
blog,“The Intercept,” co-invested with the US government to help fund
regime change in Ukraine
. .....

http://pando.com/2014/02/28/pierre-omidyar-co-funded-ukraine-revolution-groups-with-us-government-documents-show/

Greenwald's Reply at: https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/03/01/journalistic-independence/

So?
Big deal, you say.
And anyway, who the hell is Pierre Omidyar?

Ok, can you handle two degrees of separation? :

1) Pierre Omidyar is "a French-born Iranian American entrepreneur and
philanthropist, who is the founder and chairman of the eBay auction site.
A billionaire at 31..." who is financing journalist Glen Greenwald.

2) Glen Grenwald is the journalist who was given a treasure trove
of secret US files stolen from the CIA/NSA by analyst, Edward Snowden!!

3) Edward Snowden is a Spy maybe - and/or a Psyop maybe.

If you are wondering why Ed Snowden has two degrees of separation from
two branches of the US Dept.-of-Dirty-Tricks-Pretending-to-Be-Democracy
(NED) (NSAID), then you are getting the idea.
Is that enuf?

As you maybe noticed, BFN has paid little attention to the hype around
Ed Snowden --precisely because of such concerns.

Actually I had been gathering a little dossier of disturbing facts
all about Pierre Omidyar and Snowden's buddy Glen Greenwald.

I suppose now is a good time to let you have them:

Quote:
5 Unnerving Documents Showing Ties Between
Greenwald, Omidyar & Booz Allen Hamilton

by Bill Ottman

These are the facts:

1. Omidyar is funding a $250 million dollar new media venture with Glenn Greenwald based on the Snowden documents.

2. Omidyar Network and Booz Allen Hamilton are both partners/investors of InnoCentive.

3. Omidyar Network and a member of the Board of Directors of Booz Allen Hamilton, Philip Odeen, are both major shareholders of Globant. Sal Giambanco, a partner at Omidyar Network, is on the Board of Advisors of Globant. Philip Odeen is on the Board of Directors of Globant.

4. Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Michael Kent, Pranay Chulet and Patricia Sosrodjojo have all worked in strategic positions at both Omidyar Network and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Here are the questions:

Is this all circumstantial evidence? Are these connections acceptable or not given the gravity and sensitivity of the global surveillance situation?

Has a revolving door of corporations with government ties regained a degree of control over the documents that were leaked by Snowden? What are the full intentions of First Post (NewCo, the $250 million dollar new media venture between Greenwald, billionaire Pierre Omidyar and others)?

Is there a conflict of interest between Omidyar Network, Booz Allen Hamilton, Sal Giambanco (Partner of Omidyar Network and Globant), Philip Odeen (Partner of Booz Allen Hamilton and Globant), Glenn Greenwald, Edward Snowden, the NewCo & the National Security community?

What does Edward Snowden think of these connections and the massive profit being generated from his disclosures? Is he upset about it or is he getting a slice of the pie? Ed! Let us know what's going on!

When will the rest of the documents will be released? Will any be withheld and why?

Where do you draw the line between 'non-publishable' leaked intel and information the public has a right to know?

Why aren't these questions being deeply engaged by mainstream press?

Why is most of the alternative press ignoring it?

http://www.minds.com/blog/view/264199355085361152/5-unnerving-documents-showing-ties-between-greenwald-omidyar-and-booz-allen-hamilton

UPDATE: Greenwald has published this response, which is appreciated.
It is certainly a step in the right direction and he is correct that
it isn't fair to single him out when Poitras has equal holding of docs.
Let's keep the dialogue going.

Keeping Secrets: Pierre Omidyar, Glenn Greenwald
and the privatization of Snowden’s leaks

Who “owns” the NSA secrets leaked by Edward Snowden to reporters Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras?

Given that eBay founder Pierre Omidyar just invested a quarter of a billion dollars to
personally hire Greenwald and Poitras for his new for-profit media venture, it’s a question worth asking.

It’s especially worth asking since it became clear that Greenwald and Poitras are now the only two people with full access to the complete cache of NSA files, which are said to number anywhere from 50,000 to as many as 200,000 files. That’s right: Snowden doesn’t have the files any more, the Guardian doesn’t have them, the Washington Post doesn’t have them… just Glenn and Laura at the for-profit journalism company created by the founder of eBay.

Quote:
The Extraordinary Pierre Omidyar
By Mark Ames, and Yasha Levine

November 15, 2013

Since its founding in 2004, Omidyar Network has committed nearly $300 million to a range of nonprofit
and for-profit "charity" outfits. An examination of the ideas behind the Omidyar Network and of the
investments it has made suggests that its founder is anything but a "different" sort of billionaire.

Instead, what emerges is almost a caricature of neoliberal ideology, complete with the trail of
destruction that ensues when that ideology is put into practice. The generous support of the
Omidyar Network goes toward "fighting poverty" through micro-lending, reducing third-world illiteracy
rates by privatizing education and protecting human rights by expanding property titles
("private property rights") into slums and villages across the developing world......
https://www.nsfwcorp.com/dispatch/extraordinary-pierre-omidyar/

Update: Glenn Greenwald responds to this piece on Twitter:

"The idea that someone would build a pro-business, neoliberal outlet around Scahill,
Poitras, Segura, Bates etc is just dumb." When asked about Omidyar Network's investment
history, he said "I have no idea what you're talking about there. I don't speak for
Omidyar Networks. You should ask them that."

Very nice work Mr. Dunne!

I did some additional digging as well and found this:
The Department Of Dirty Tricks runs deep at not only First Look Media, but also with InnoCentive and their direct connection to the Rockefeller Foundation, and Drug Maker to the Stars; Eli Lilly.

InnoCentive
Quote:
InnoCentive came to Alpheus Bingham and Aaron Schacht in 1998 while they worked together at Eli Lilly and Company during a session that was focused on exploring application of the Internet to business. The company was launched in 2001 by Jill Panetta, Jeff Hensley, Darren Carroll and Alpheus Bingham, with majority seed funding from Eli Lilly and Company. Darren Carroll led the launch effort and became the first CEO. In 2005, InnoCentive was spun out of Eli Lilly with investments led by Spencer Trask of New York. In December 2006, shortly after Dwayne Spradlin took the helm as CEO, the company signed an agreement with the Rockefeller Foundation to add a nonprofit area designed to generate science and technology solutions to pressing problems in the developing world.

InnoCent? I think not!

Jeremy Scahill: Author of “alleged’ tell all book on Blackwater USA which still continues today as Xe Enterprises.
Laura Poitras: Filmed the “Leaky" ship of fools NSA Blowhard Bill “Bailey” Binny.
Matt “tabloid” Taibbi: Former Rolling Stoner and overall loser in media whom spent “a year” going to school in St. Petersburg. Yeah right.

Jill Panetta: A little bit of her so called work.http://www.mitpressjournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1162/itgg.2007.2.3.97
There’s a hell of a lot more going on here. We need to keep digging in the dirt. The evidence is there. Wink

Let's face the fact...the system is corrupt to the core. It is Fascism...the merger of state and business. I add info to the NDAA Police State thread because it is relevant. However, dodgy backgrounds of key people seems to abound....Edward Snowden didn't actually work for the NSA, he worked for a contractor called Booz Allen Hamilton (Booz Allen Hamilton, the NSA contractor that employed Snowden after his stint at the CIA) as a computer technician. How did it come to be that Snowden, working for a private company, was able to leak information about a top secret surveillance program?

At the end of its last fiscal year, in March 2013, Booz Allen Hamilton reported $5.76 billion in revenue. A full 99% of that came from government contracts, as did $219 million in profits. Almost a quarter of its revenue -- $1.3 billion -- was from major U.S. intelligence agencies that have been all too willing to dole out cash to intelligence contractors over the past decade.

About 70% of the 2013 U.S. intelligence budget is contracted out.

Here are some of the other big deals Booz Allen has landed after the Snowden revelations:

On August 2, a $900 million contract to support cybersecurity at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, providing services to the Navy and Marine Corps among others; on July 23, $78 million in civil health contracts from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Health and Human Services; on June 21, a $25.8 million contract with the Department of Transportation.

Earlier in the year, Booz Allen was awarded: a $315 million contract with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; $11 billion in the form of two five-year contracts from the Department of Homeland Security; a $5.6 billion Defense Intelligence Agency contract; $95 million in contracts with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command; and yet another set of Department of Transportation contracts worth $102 million. James Fisher, the senior manager of media relations at Booz Allen, declined to comment on this latest contract and the post-Snowden landscape for the firm.

Beltway firms large and small have been buffeted by the sequester. But Booz Allen continues to score new business. Its stock has, in fact, rallied since the Snowden revelations.

***

In 1940, Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox turned to Booz, Fry, Allen & Hamilton, a consulting firm in Chicago whose best-known clients were Goodyear Tire & Rubber (GT) and Montgomery Ward. The firm had effectively invented management consulting, deploying whiz kids from top schools as analysts and acumen-for-hire to corporate clients. Working with the Navy’s own planners, Booz consultants developed a special sensor system that could track the U-boats’ brief-burst radio communications and helped design an attack strategy around it. With its aid, the Allies by war’s end had sunk or crippled most of the German submarine fleet.

That project was the start of a long collaboration. As the Cold War set in, intensified, thawed, and was supplanted by global terrorism in the minds of national security strategists, the firm, now called Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH), focused more and more on government work. In 2008 it split off its less lucrative commercial consulting arm—under the name Booz & Co.—and became a pure government contractor, publicly traded and majority-owned by private equity firm Carlyle Group (CG). In the fiscal year ended in March 2013, Booz Allen Hamilton reported $5.76 billion in revenue, 99 percent of which came from government contracts, and $219 million in net income. Almost a quarter of its revenue—$1.3 billion—was from major U.S. intelligence agencies.

Chart: How Booz Allen Hamilton Swallowed Washington

Excellent background on the Boozers SPF!

Is there no end to the level of depravity and deception within Goverment(s)?
One can't even get around the depth of this crap as it has so many arms and legs, connecting companies to each other with former and current politicians, military, and private sector pundits. Its no wonder there is little or no money for anything but defense, surveillance, and black ops.
When will the people rise and say; "enough, God Dammit!"

It isn't the release pace of the secrets which give me reason to doubt that something fishy is going on, it is the dearth of 9/11 related secrets. Or have I missed something?

Yeah, isn't 9/11 beautifully airbrushed out of all these alleged whistleblower revelations!
No wonder the "Booz"ers and Lilly are in the frame.

SNOWDEN WHITEWASH
AT THE WASHINGTON POST

Washington Post has suddenly found it appropriate to pick up on the
PandoDaily revelations about Ukraine links and the Booz Allen angle!

Why now? Oh, 'bcos it's time for a mainstream whitewash, what else? Laughing

Out comes the big white brush:

Quote:
Glenn Greenwald, PandoDaily tussle over Ukraine, editorial independence
BY ERIK WEMPLE - March 3 at 2:20 pm

I like the framing. If you are gon'na do a good whitewash job,
then a nice, clever 'framing' headline is absolutely essential.

Y'see Pando published an article (above in this thread)
on 27th Nov, 2013 - all about Greenwald and Omidyar.

And Pando published an article (above in this thread)
on 28th Feb, 2014 - all about Greenwald and Omidyar.

TWO articles in three months! Now that's virtually stalking behaviour!!

Clearly Pando have some kind of wierd vendetta-like vibe going on.
So, this is not investigative journalism. It's downright harassment.

And THAT'S why the headline says:

Quote:
Glenn Greenwald, PandoDaily tussle over Ukraine, editorial independence
BY ERIK WEMPLE - March 3 at 2:20 pm

Y'see! It's just a "TUSSLE" between a few people. It's like... Fight Club!

It's not investigative journalism. It's a cat fight online.

These Pando guys are internet crazies who: actually use Twitter!

Quote:
"Paul Carr [of Pando] has made prolific use of Twitter..."
- Wash. Post

Take it from the Washington Post. This is NOT a story - it's a JOKE! lol

Allow us quote from the Washing Post article:

Quote:
"Is this a scandal that needs to be addressed, particularly by First Look journalists?

It is nothing close to a scandal, but:

It is interesting and newsworthy.

It concerns a well-funded general-news enterprise about which there’s a lot of curiosity.
Greenwald should just respond to Pando and move on.
"
- Wash. Post

Laughing MR. WHITEWASH. YOU THE MAN!

9/11 COVER-UP JUDGE NOW
RUNS FISA SECRET COURT

Y'know the more it changes, the more it stays the same. Back in 2006 -
BFN was highlighting the role of Judge Reggie Walton in the cover-up of
the 9/11 attacks.

Last week he popped up again to make two countermanding rulings
over what we do with the personal data of citizens grabbed by the NSA.

His first order allowed the destruction of the NSA's cache of US phone
records - if they were from longer than five years ago. Three court days
later, on Wednesday last, Walton ordered the NSA to retain the cache
of phone records.

The EFF, the ACLU, conservative legal activist Larry Klayman and
Sen. Rand Paul, have all filed lawsuits against the NSA phone program.

Klayman, told U.S. News he believes Walton is in cahoots with the NSA
and that his initial denial of the government’s request was a charade.

Quote:
“Walton is very much a pro-government-type judge,” Klayman says.

“I think they’re working together – I think the NSA and the judge are working together and the NSA got what it wanted, to keep those metadata records, and the pretext was not to destroy evidence. … It’s a highly dangerous situation to leave those documents in the hands of the NSA.”

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2014/03/13/secret-court-authorizes-indefinite-retention-of-nsa-records-for-now

Congrats, Mr Klayman. You nailed it. Judge Reggie Walton = the NSA!!

We were on to this guy in 2006, when he ran the trial of Dick Cheney's
former chief of staff, Scooter Libby. A year later he was appointed to a
seat on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court - where the
well-connected, Judge Reggie oversaw the NSA's spying programs.

Ironic, or what?

Now he's making pivotal rulings on the NSA material.

So it's probably a good time to recap some of the
key points of my 2006 article on Reggie Walton:

Quote:

http://www.breakfornews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=454#454

[extract]

Reggie Walton is the judge who handled the Stephen Hatfill anthrax case.

In March, 2004, Walton granted the FBI's request to postpone Hatfill's
defamation suit, claiming that the investigation was in a sensitive phase.
Which is a bit of a sick joke, as the FBI's investigation has always
been in a "sensitive" phase. Just like all other government Ops.

And it was Walton who upheld the government's right to state secrets in
the Sibel Edmonds case! Another contrived 'scandal' which went nowhere.

Does this guy turn up in all the right places, or what? When the Establishment
run these kind of Ops, they need a judge who is a safe pair of hands.
Or to put it another way: they need a judge who is in on it.....

Representing Sibel Edmonds in that "State Secrets" gag order case
presided over by Walton was long-time, legal hack for disgrunled CIA
officers -Mark Zaid. If you are on the outs with the Agency, then Zaid is
your man.

On the other hand, if you are pretending to be on the outs with the CIA,
Mark is definitely your man.

In the case of such tried-and-trusted ploys for establishing some flimsy
street cred as an "opponent" of the CIA, the last thing you, or the agency
need is a lawyer who might take the whole thing too seriously and actually
expose things the Agency might not want you to think you had "found out"
anyway (-as part of the deception).

Much better to have a pet lawyer, who can huff and puff with the best of them
but blow nobody's house down in the process. And what better cover to
use to pose as a whistleblower than to be conveniently silenced by the
government -with the help of a CIA lawyer and a Bush judge.

Sibel would love to spill the beans on Mohammed Atta. Really, she would!
But unfortunately she can't. Go figure.

...AND IF IT QUACKS LIKE A DUCK....

Let's step back and take another look at the way a far too cosy crew keep
popping up in these related issues.

1993 WTC Bombing
Partick Fitzgerald prosecuting Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman.

Neocon Black
Partick Fitzgerald prosecuting Conrad Black.

Neocon Libby
Partick Fitzgerald prosecuting 'Scooter' Libby.
Reggie Walton as presiding judge.

9/11 Anthrax
Reggie Walton as Hatfill case presiding judge.

9/11 Mohammed Atta / FBI
Mark Zaid representing Sibel Edmonds.
Reggie Walton as presiding judge.

April 4, 2014 Edward Snowden Testimony at the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

That's Ed Snowden giving the European parliamentarians a
summary "dummy's guide" to how NSA overlordship works.

And here's Ed sharing top billing with none other than
Vladimir Putin himself in a TV special on Russian TV.

'Does Russia engage in Mass Data Capture,' he asks Putin:

Quote:

He's a Star! The boy is a bankable, verifiable, 100% Star!

Why? (tongue planted somewhat in cheek now)

Because.... ED SNOWDEN IS A GLOBALIST PLOT!

Now the pieces fall into place.

It's those pesky UN, Agenda 21-loving Globalists - yet again.
They want to destroy America! And turn it into a depopulated
wildlife park where the golbalist elite can vacation and hunt for
wild animals from San Fran to Wash DC. They want to set up
Satan's kingdom on Earth and usher in a new era of ...

/rant
(Phew, got carried away there. Dunno what came over me)

But seriously, Snowden is tipped to get a Nobel Prize later this year,
and his journalist channelers in them Pinko Rags, the Guardian and
the Wash Post have already nabbed themselves a Pulitzer.

Snowden is nominated to the same commie-loving Nobel Committee
which gave a Nobel Peace Prize to the Pretender In Chief B. Obama!

And now he's on commie TV with the GodDamn Leader of the Commies!!

What more proof of this Commie traitor's Globalist roots do you need!!!

/rant
(Can't seem to shake these hysterical outbursts...)
Laughing

Let's regain some balance by delving into the meaning of "Globalists."

The classical meaning of Globalist - as per AJ and other propagandists
of his ilk - as marketed 1994-2004 to a primarily GOP audience, is this:

"a Globalist is a Democrat." And vice-versa.

"And while the GOP may not be perfect, led by Christian GW Bush, it is
the USA's best defense against the oncoming godless commie horde."

That's right, scratch it hard and "anti-globalist" turned into a recruiting
slogan for the BUSH BOYS. It was a political meme to draw you in.
Whereupon the "globalists" became: all enemies of the Bush (re)election.

So, how do we place Snowden and what are clearly "Globalist" forces today?

Think of it like this:

The Military Industrial Complex is a tired brand (esp after Iraq/Afgh).

So, try New Military Industrial Complex LITE!! ......'Ya know.

In other words, at the political level Snowden is a useful political MEME.

As in:
"Don't let GOP win, fer cryin out loud."
"Team BushLITE(TM) will protect us from the excesses of Team BUSH"

That's the simple political level. But there's a strategic level as well.

At this level, the outsourcing of military/intelligence to the so-called
private sector, plus the Bush Boys network exploitation of these new
"porous" private-sector structures within their own intelligence network,
had created a surveillance monster designed to aid perpetual MIC
exploitation and enrichment via info and invention theft and war.

This private-public army had to be penetrated and discredited.

That's where Snowden came in.

And that's why strategists of the BRICS +EUleftists +Russia +China
have colluded to fill their nation's mainstream TV with Snowden leaks.

Then there's a level at which this is Old industry V. new Industry.

Old - as in military versus New - as in technology.

So that's why Facebook and Google and the rest of the tech innovators
have skin in this Snowden game - and it's trial run, precursor (which set
up the meme of international whistleblower), the........ Assange Gambit.

(That's right - Assange Gambit.)
(Think Nobel and you think.... Nordic? Check.
(And the Assange Game was born in? Check.)

So, get ready to cheer for Snowden and Team BushLITE.

The job at hand is to trim your expectations.
To lower your sights. And to move goalposts.

What you Want: 1) DUMP the Patriot Act 2) NO NSA Spying

What you Get: 2) Cuddly NSA Spying

Yaaaaay...
Go Team BushLITE .NOT.

I think this might fit here
since it has Glenn Greenwald

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/05/12/1298893/-Glenn-Greenwald-on-Hillary-Clinton-She-s-a-f-ing-hawk-and-like-a-neocon-practically#

Glenn Greenwald on Hillary Clinton: “She’s a f***ing hawk and like a neocon, practically..”

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald's thoughts on a possible Hillary Clinton presidential run, in today's Politico:

“She’s a f***ing hawk and like a neocon, practically,” he said. “She’s surrounded by all these sleazy money types who are just corrupting everything everywhere. But she’s going to be the first female president, and women in America are going to be completely invested in her candidacy.”
Ok, I agree, Hillary Clinton is like a neo-con, and she is obviously a hawk too. What other highlights we got here:
Greenwald also said that opposition to a possible Clinton 2016 candidacy “is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to [President Barack] Obama has been depicted as racist.”

“It’s going to be this completely symbolic messaging that’s going to overshadow the fact that she’ll do nothing but continue everything in pursuit of her own power,” he said, suggesting that should she win, that will perpetuate America’s “own de facto monarchy.”

Why did Greenwald agree to government plea
to hold major NSA story but the Post didn’t?

BY PAUL CARR ON JULY 6, 2014

For months, Glenn Greenwald and his Omidyar-backed news site, The
Intercept, have been trailing their biggest scoop: Details of thousands of
Americans who were spied on by their own government. “This will be the
finale,” Greenwald said. “A big missing piece.”

Weeks passed, though, and the details didn’t materialize. On 30th June,
Greenwald finally announced his big scoop would land “at midnight,” but
that deadline too came and went. According to Greenwald, the delay was
caused by “last-minute claims” by the US government which had
convinced him to delay publication.

Yesterday morning, the Washington Post and Edward Snowden apparently
got tired of waiting for Greenwald to get the green light from Uncle Sam.

In a stunning report by reporter and one-time Greenwald collaborator
Barton Gellman, co-bylined with Julie Tate and Ashkan Soltani, the Post
reveals details of 65,000 Americans whose private communications were
intercepted by agents intending to spy on foreign suspects.....

So how did Greenwald get scooped by his own source, Snowden,
and his former colleague, Gellman?
Why did the US government’s
attempts to shut down the story work on Greenwald and the
Intercept but apparently not on the Post?....

NEW ZEALAND LAUNCHED MASS SURVEILLANCE
PROJECT WHILE PUBLICLY DENYING IT

Fugitives from U.S. prosecutors criticize
NZ gov't involvement with "Five Eyes"

English.news.cn 2014-09-15 18:00:28

WELLINGTON, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Three international fugitives from U.S.
prosecutors came together via the Internet in Auckland Monday to discuss
claims of how the New Zealand government was enabling mass
surveillance of its own people and contributing to the "Five Eyes"
multinational spy network.

U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden and
Australian Wikileaks founder Julian Assange addressed a public meeting
at a packed Auckland Town Hall meeting organized by German Internet
mogul, Kim Dotcom who is fighting extradition to the United States on
charges of copyright piracy and money laundering.

Snowden and Assange spoke live from their safe havens in Russia and the
Ecuadorean embassy in London respectively through an Internet-based
encrypted video system hosted by Dotcom's Mega company.

Snowden told the meeting, which was broadcast live over the Internet,
that the NSA had facilities for gathering mass communications metadata
and content in New Zealand
and that the NSA could read communications
through a network of "sensors," including a sensor in New Zealand.

Southern Cross Cables, which operates New Zealand's only Internet cable
link to the outside world and has denied their cables are tapped, would not
realize their systems were tapped, said Snowden, asking why the New
Zealand company thought its security was so special that it had avoided
surveillance technologies that had violated other telecommunications
systems around the world.

New Zealand's Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) spy
agency not only used the NSA's "XKEYSCORE" mass surveillance tool,
"they have expanded it, they have contributed to its development," said
Snowden.

Earlier Monday, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald and
Snowden both had articles posted on The Intercept news site claiming New
Zealand Prime Minister John Key was being untruthful about information
gathered by the GCSB and that the GCSB was sharing the information with
Five Eyes spying partners in the United States, Britain, Australia and
Canada.

Snowden's article stated: "Let me be clear: any statement that mass
surveillance is not performed in New Zealand, or that the internet
communications are not comprehensively intercepted and monitored, or
that this is not intentionally and actively abetted by the GCSB, is
categorically false."

Key, who has consistently denied New Zealand's spy agencies are
conducting mass surveillance, said he was releasing declassified
government documents to prove the claims were "simply wrong"
and based on incomplete information.

However, both Greenwald, who was at the meeting, and Snowden said
the documents were intended to distract and blur the facts.

Earlier, Key had admitted for the first time that the GCSB worked on a
proposal for mass data collection, but it was killed before a public debate
on changing New Zealand's spy laws last year.

Greenwald said Key had been "shameless" in releasing declassified
documents regarding national security to protect his own reputation.

Assange told the meeting that New Zealanders had not agreed to the
"radical extreme project" of mass communications surveillance.

He said GCSB officials were addicted to their relationship with powerful
players in the other Five Eyes countries.

This gig was organized by Kim Dotcom - who decided whom to invite.

Whatever reservations we may have about Assange or even Snowden,
rest assured that these reveelations are the hot skinny the NWO would
refer remain well under wraps.

During the opening minutes of the event, Glen Greenwald tried to maintain
that the the timing was not designed to affect the imminent NZ elections.

Yeah - sure. Dotcom wanted revenge - now he's getting it. And then some.

NSA/GCHQ/CSEC Infecting Innocent Computers Worldwide

There's a new story on the C't Magazin website about a 5-Eyes program to
infect computers around the world for use as launching pads for attacks.
These are not target computers; these are innocent third parties.

The article actually talks about several government programs. HACIENDA
is a GCHQ program to port-scan entire countries, looking for vulnerable
computers to attack. According to the GCHQ slide from 2009, they've
completed port scans of 27 different countries and are prepared to do
more
.

The point of this is to create ORBs, or Operational Relay Boxes. Basically,
these are computers that sit between the attacker and the target, and are
designed to obscure the true origins of an attack. Slides from the
Canadian CSEC talk about how this process is being automated:

"2-3 times/year, 1 day focused effort to acquire as many new ORBs as
possible in as many non 5-Eyes countries as possible." They've automated
this process into something codenamed LANDMARK, and together with a
knowledge engine codenamed OLYMPIA, 24 people were able to identify "a
list of 3000+ potential ORBs" in 5-8 hours. The presentation does not go
on to say whether all of those computers were actually infected.

Slides from the UK's GCHQ also talk about ORB detection, as part of a
program called MUGSHOT. It, too, is happy with the automatic process:
"Initial ten fold increase in Orb identification rate over manual process."

[....]

Increasingly, innocent computers and networks are becoming collateral
damage, as countries use the Internet to conduct espionage and attacks
against each other. This is an example of that.

Not only do these intelligence services want an insecure Internet so they
can attack each other, they want an insecure Internet so they can use
innocent third parties to help facilitate their attacks
.

And here's the article he's talking about - which has full
tech details of the exploit methods the spies are using:

Quote:
NSA/GCHQ: The HACIENDA Program for Internet Colonization

Since the early days of TCP, port scanning has been used by computer
saboteurs to locate vulnerable systems.

In a new set of top secret documents seen by Heise, it is revealed that in
2009, the British spy agency GCHQ made port scans a "standard tool" to
be applied against entire nations
