IDEAS FOR CANCER SELF-TREATMENT.
This was written this week from having to tell a friend at work.
They know a child going into chemotherapy.
One old gentleman who had surgery for lung cancer used this and he has had no remission, over six months now.

BRAZIL NUTS, LEMONS, LYSINE, GREEN TEA , PAW PAWS and COD LIVER OIL.

METHYLATION THERAPY (Don’t ask too much…it’s too nerdy)
Why Selenium from Brazil Nuts work.

“This paper reports the results of two mammary cancer prevention experiments in the rat dimethylbenz[a]anthracene model by continuous feeding of selenium-rich Brazil nut (processed to a smooth-textured nut material for mixing in the diet). A dose-dependent inhibitory response was observed at dietary selenium concentrations of 1-3 micrograms/g. Interestingly, Brazil nut was found to be just as powerful as sodium selenite, if not more so, at similar levels of dietary selenium intake.”
Bioactivity of selenium from Brazil nut for cancer prevention and selenoenzyme maintenance.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=8072875&dopt=Abstract

“In all groups of children with cancer we observed a significantly lower selenium concentration and lowered glutathione peroxidase activity”

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=7804031&dopt=Abstract

Other food sources are listed here.
“The richest food sources of selenium are organ meats and seafood, followed by muscle meats. In general, there is wide variation in the selenium content of plants and grains because plants do not appear to require selenium. Thus, the incorporation of selenium into plant proteins is dependent only on soil selenium content. Brazil nuts grown in areas of Brazil with selenium-rich soil may provide more than 100 mcg of selenium in one nut, while those grown in selenium-poor soil may provide 10 times less.”
Selenium
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/selenium/index.html

Brazil nuts taste best from either a spread they sell at the supermarket or thrown into muesli or cereal.
I have about 4 or 5 in muesli and I use them for psoriasis, this formula works on arthritis as well.

This is part of what I call Methylation Therapy, you won’t hear about it anywhere because I came up with it.
There is one researcher called Jill James who also uses it for Autism.
Cancer is characterised by a lack of DNA Methylation.
They are developing tests to diagnose cancer using this but I’m talking about a direct DIY treatment for this right now.

“Epigenomics believes that this diagnostic, which works by interpreting changes in DNA methylation, has the potential to support large-scale, general population colorectal cancer screening since early detection of colorectal cancer significantly improves treatment outcome.”

http://www.epigenomics.com/en/Newsroom/Press_Releases/2005/datednews/051219_CCS_adhoc.html?784bf6131bb0a1d55365a3fbf8bd439a=85bc439b4084634450a2019d16794ec5

So the other main nutrients needed with Selenium to enable Methylation are Folic Acid, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12.
A bit of Vegemite or Yeast Extract on toast etc. each day actually does the trick or a multi-B.
I'm taking a folic acid supplement now.

“Published in the July 15, 2006 issue of CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, the small study found that 31 of 43 patients with the precancerous laryngeal lesion called leucoplakia demonstrated 50 percent or greater reduction in the size after six months of taking folate supplements.
In 12 of 31 responders, there was no evidence of the original lesion.”
Encouraging Results For Folic Acid As A Cancer Prevention Drug
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/06/060612082419.htm

“CONCLUSIONS: Higher plasma levels of folate and possibly vitamin B(6) may reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Achieving adequate circulating levels of folate may be particularly important for women at higher risk of developing breast cancer because of higher alcohol consumption.”

Vitamin B6
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminB6/index.html
Vitamin B12
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminB12/index.html

The last nutrient is Choline but it’s easy to get and your liver also makes it.
“Milk, eggs, liver, and peanuts are especially rich in choline.”
Choline
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/othernuts/choline/index.html

Cancer cells have high Choline Kinase, this really means the other nutrients needed to use the Choline aren’t there so the previous nutrients are more important.
I think B6 deficiency affects this, it’s a supplement I take for staying calm, sleep and muscle relaxation.

“B6 is also involved in the synthesis of phosphatidylethanolamine which is an intermediate in the synthesis of choline and phosphatidylcholine”
B6 or Pyridoxine
http://www.acnem.org/journal/14-1_july_1995/pyridoxine-vitamin_b6.htm

COLLAGEN THERAPY
This is also a heart therapy developed by double Nobel winner Linus Pauling and Dr. Rath.
http://www.paulingtherapy.com/

Since cancer cells destroy Collagen this is what I recommend.
Vitamin C from lemons preferably one a day plus Lysine help to make Collagen, that’s how your face holds together.

Mung beans are the highest food with collagen, I’d just use 10 Lysine tablets a day, very cheap.

“Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that it is essential to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, lysine must be obtained from food.”
“Good sources of lysine are foods rich in protein including meat (specifically red meat, pork, and poultry), cheese (particularly parmesan), certain fish (such as cod and sardines), nuts, eggs, soybeans (particularly tofu, isolated soy protein, and defatted soybean flour), spirulina, and fenugreek seed.”
Lysine
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsSupplements/Lysinecs.html

Both sugar and cooking destroy it though.

So Cancer spreads by destroying Collagen

Type I collagen degradation by invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=10899676&dopt=Abstract

OK, I’ll explain this nerd stuff below, MMP-2 is called a metalloproteinase enzyme, it gets released by cancer and this is how the cancer cells spread.
This is a normal part of our growth process called angiogenesis except it gets out of control with cancer cells. VEGF is a hormone that triggers the growth.
RMS is just short for rhabdomyosarcoma.
So the RMS cells are breaking down the collagen and going where they shouldn’t.

“Overall, our data suggest that a high level of MMP-2 protein and VEGF/VEGFR expression may contribute to the metastatic phenotype of ARMS cells and that exogenously induced PAX3-FKHR expression increases MMP-2 secretion and invasive capability of RMS cells.”
Expression and activity of vascular endothelial growth factor and metalloproteinases in alveolar and embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma cell lines.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=16077930&dopt=Abstract

RMS is a cancer of children so this....
"alveolar and embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma cell lines"
means heart cells and the cells that should make a kid grow but are lost are instead releasing these collagen destroying enzymes, add more collagen and you slow that down or stop it.

COPPER AND ZINC
You also need enough copper to make collagen and enough Vitamin C to absorb the copper properly.
This is optional, some researchers starve the body of copper to starve the cancer cells, if all the other nutrients are added there shouldn’t be a problem.
Zinc is needed to balance copper and also create a cell protective compound called Superoxide Dismutase, asthmatics need this.

“Dietary copper deficiency induces alterations of connective tissue metabolism that are associated with lesions in cardiovascular and other organ systems.”
Copper deficiency alters collagen types and covalent cross-linking in swine myocardium and cardiac valves.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=8322946&dopt=Abstract

Poor piggies, what this is really saying is that without copper it’s like our collagen doesn’t have the beams to hold the house together.

“Copper is found in a wide variety of foods and is most plentiful in organ meats, shellfish, nuts, and seeds. Wheat bran cereals and whole grain products are also good sources of copper.”
Copper
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/copper/index.html
“Shellfish, beef, and other red meats are rich sources of zinc. Nuts and legumes are relatively good plant sources. Zinc bioavailability (the fraction of zinc retained and used by the body) is relatively high in meat, eggs, and seafood because of the relative absence of compounds that inhibit zinc absorption and the presence of certain amino acids (cysteine and methionine) that improve zinc absorption.”
Zinc
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/zinc/

“cysteine and methionine” is the another reason for recommending Brazil nuts.
Methionine also combines with Lysine to make Carnitine, it’s like building up your walls.

Remember enough Vitamin C and greens are needed to absorb all this and make it work.

Green tea also inhibits the cancer enzyme metalloproteinase that destroys the collagen.
That’s from Dr. Rath’s Cancer therapy.
http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/NHC/cancer/cellular_solutions.htm

PANCREATIC ENZYMES
Avoiding sugar like the plague is another because sugar feeds cancer cells, they are different from normal cells that use another process.
If you get half a paw paw every second day this actually breaks down the sugars before they saturate the cells and feed the cancer cells.

Paw Paw has pancreatic enzymes, the greatest amount in any food, pineapple does too.
Your pancreas breaks down sugars.

“These results are far above the 25% survival at one year and 10% survival at two years for all stages of pancreatic adenocarcinoma reported in the National Cancer Data Base from 1995. This pilot study suggests that an aggressive nutritional therapy with large doses of pancreatic enzymes led to significantly increased survival over what would normally be expected for patients with inoperable pancreatic adenocarcinoma.”

HORMONES
The last is cod liver oil each day or Vitamin A foods, I can show a zillion studies on cancer inhibition with Retinoic acid, I don’t know why they don’t use it, no profit I suppose.

“We conclude that RA inhibits the growth of human RMS cell lines in a dose-dependent, stereo-specific manner”

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=6276439&dopt=Abstract

Cod Liver Oil has the highest Retinoic acid or Vitamin A
Vitamin A
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminA/

Retinoic acid and Vitamin D are precursors for another hormone called TGF Beta.
Without the initial nutrients, the cell signaling needed to tell cancer cells to stop, then doesn’t occur.

MILK THISTLE
The one herb I would recommend is Milk Thistle or Silymarin, especially if Chemo has been used or is being used to stop liver failure.
And I drink Red Clover, oldest cancer herb going back to the bible….

These recommendations will help Heart disease because the Methylation therapy reduces Homo-cysteine and it helps all Auto-immune diseases as well, Arthritis, Psoriasis, Multiple Scerosis, Crohn’s disease, Lupus etc….

This was the previous information to explain so this should be a bit more practical.

Long time no viddy, droog - how goes? Smile

Thanks for that info-chunk, like your previous stuff, s'very interesting and compelling material.

My diet isn't all it should be - I was taking large doses of vitamins/minerals (including copper) already, but after coming across your info., I have tweaked this again, somewhat.

I wonder, Cal, what your opinions are regarding those studies (sorry, can't link to 'em right now, but I'm sure that you're aware of 'em) that showed that animals (rats/mice in the initial studies, IIRC) lived up to 30% longer when placed on a restricted-calorie diet?

I don't think that they were *starving* the test subjects, but IIRC the diet that they had them on was quite restricted calorifically, and it seemed to result in a measurable, repeatable increase of 30% or more of the animals' longevity.

Do you think that this is in all likelyhood applicable to humans, too, obviously providing that what we *do* eat is sufficiently rich in the vits/mins that you've written about previously?

I'm updating this on myspace blog as I go, bit tidier.

Only those in the uni research labs are talking about methylation so I made it as simple as possible.
If you check the dietary sources for these things it adds up to protein, low carb and good amount of greens with Vitamin C so a low calorie diet makes sense for longetivity.
Add the pancreatic enzymes for breaking down the food etc.
This doesn't have to be heaps of protein either.

Here's an example of low methylation causing cancer, poor rats of course.

“When rats are chronically fed a diet devoid of a methyl-donor source (choline, methionine, folic acid, and vitamin B12), they spontaneously develop hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). This is a unique carcinogenesis model in which no known carcinogen is involved. After the initial discovery of this model, many questions were raised concerning its validity including the possibility of carcinogenic contaminants in the diet. Later, it was definitively demonstrated that diets lacking in methionine and choline and containing no detectable level of carcinogens acted as a complete carcinogen”

B17 is also in Red Clover and Elderflower if that's of use.
I tried Chapparral for a year and I'm still OK too, had to check.

Brazil nuts won't hurt, broccoli or garlic.

I think if you look up Hulda Clark she will claim that the presence of worms in the prostate release cancer causing hormones, I'm not sure....but Pumpkin Seeds are useful for the Prostate anyway, maybe try them.

"Pumpkin seeds are taken principally as a safe deworming agent. They are particularly useful against tapeworms in pregnant women and in children, for whom stronger-acting and toxic preparations are unsuitable. The seeds are also mildly diuretic, and have been used in Central American herbal medicine as a treatment for nephritis and other urinary system problems. Varieties of pumpkin that are particularly diuretic, tonic to the bladder, and high in zinc have been recommended in the early stages of prostate problems."

Try Milk Thistle as well.

"We examined whether a flavonoid antioxidant silibinin (an active constituent of milk thistle) decreases PSA levels in hormone-refractory human prostate carcinoma LNCaP cells and whether this effect has biological relevance. Silibinin treatment of cells grown in serum resulted in a significant decrease in both intracellular and secreted forms of PSA concomitant with a highly significant to complete inhibition of cell growth via a G1 arrest in cell cycle progression."

"Sex hormones levels were assayed after different periods of infection, the parasites present in the peritoneal cavity were collected and gonads, uterus and seminal vesicles were weighed. In male mice, serum estradiol increased to levels 200 times their normal values whilst those of testosterone decreased 90% relative to controls"

PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:40 pm    Post subject: Cheap, safe drug kills most cancers Reply with quote

This is the best the mainstream can come up with:

Quote:
Cheap, safe drug kills most cancers

11:58 17 January 2007 From New Scientist Print Edition. Andy Coghlan

What makes cancer cells different - and how to kill them

It sounds almost too good to be true: a cheap and simple drug that kills almost all cancers by switching off their “immortality”. The drug, dichloroacetate (DCA), has already been used for years to treat rare metabolic disorders and so is known to be relatively safe.

It also has no patent, meaning it could be manufactured for a fraction of the cost of newly developed drugs.

Evangelos Michelakis of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and his colleagues tested DCA on human cells cultured outside the body and found that it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells, but not healthy cells. Tumours in rats deliberately infected with human cancer also shrank drastically when they were fed DCA-laced water for several weeks.

DCA attacks a unique feature of cancer cells: the fact that they make their energy throughout the main body of the cell, rather than in distinct organelles called mitochondria. This process, called glycolysis, is inefficient and uses up vast amounts of sugar.

Until now it had been assumed that cancer cells used glycolysis because their mitochondria were irreparably damaged. However, Michelakis’s experiments prove this is not the case, because DCA reawakened the mitochondria in cancer cells. The cells then withered and died (Cancer Cell, DOI: 10.1016/j.ccr.2006.10.020).

Michelakis suggests that the switch to glycolysis as an energy source occurs when cells in the middle of an abnormal but benign lump don’t get enough oxygen for their mitochondria to work properly (see diagram). In order to survive, they switch off their mitochondria and start producing energy through glycolysis.

Crucially, though, mitochondria do another job in cells: they activate apoptosis, the process by which abnormal cells self-destruct. When cells switch mitochondria off, they become “immortal”, outliving other cells in the tumour and so becoming dominant. Once reawakened by DCA, mitochondria reactivate apoptosis and order the abnormal cells to die.

“The results are intriguing because they point to a critical role that mitochondria play:

they impart a unique trait to cancer cells that can be exploited for cancer therapy,” says Dario Altieri, director of the University of Massachusetts Cancer Center in Worcester.

The phenomenon might also explain how secondary cancers form. Glycolysis generates lactic acid, which can break down the collagen matrix holding cells together. This means abnormal cells can be released and float to other parts of the body, where they seed new tumours.

DCA can cause pain, numbness and gait disturbances in some patients, but this may be a price worth paying if it turns out to

be effective against all cancers. The next step is to run clinical trials of DCA in people with cancer. These may have to be funded by charities, universities and governments: pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to pay because they can’t make money on unpatented medicines. The pay-off is that if DCA does work, it will be easy to manufacture and dirt cheap.

Paul Clarke, a cancer cell biologist at the University of Dundee in the UK, says the findings challenge the current assumption that mutations, not metabolism, spark off cancers. “The question is: which comes first?” he says.

Whats wrong with Sodium Dichloroacetate? I sense you disagree with the findings?

15mg/Kilo of bodyweight/Day at 1mg/Kg per hour is worth a try right?
Bad side-effects are reported only at doses of 25mg/Kg or higher...

Actually, it seems people are trying self-medication as we speak... Let´s hope it is not in vain!

I'd like to recommend this site to anyone who has or knows someone with cancer.
It's very thorough and well explained, paticularly the different stages and what things must be understood with regard to diets etc. :-

http://www.cancertutor.com/

It is well researched with many alternate cures - some very simple, such as black grapes and 12 hour fasts :-

http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/GrapeCure.html

I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes.
