Hugo Chavez, the bombastic president of Venezuela is a divisive and often confusing figure to English speaking westerners. The mainstream media easily brands him as a "nut", a "commie" or "Castro's boy." I've even seen it insinuated on this forum and others that he is an NWO pawn. I've entertained the thought myself, but I also have a soft spot for the man because he looks like he belongs in a Botero painting & I love the way he speaks. I think there is overwhelming evidence that he is a genuine crusader against imperialism and I'm sure I can convince you in just 75 minutes with this film:

The Revolution Will Not be Televised

This film was made in 2002 by Irish film makers embedded with president Chavez. While they were with him the Venezuelan military and the bourgeois elite stage a coup utilizing the private media to disinform and a false flag sniper attack on their own demonstrators who oppose Chavez on the grounds that he is "too authoritarian" or "a communist." Threatened with aerial bombardment of the presidential palace and surrounded by tanks, Chavez surrenders to the coup plotters and is whisked away to an island where an American(CIA) chartered plane is waiting to take him away. His surrender is captured on film and so are the demonstrations that followed, culminating in a counter-coup by his supporters (including military officers and thousands of Venezuelans on the street) that deposed the traitors and restored him to the office he holds to this day.

Much of the film is in Spanish with English subtitles, though the film is narrated in English. Chavez comes off as articulate and unrelenting in his goal of implementing "Socialism for the twenty first century." He implements this socialism through strict constitutional government and the radical redistribution of oil revenues, a commodity that is nationalized under the Venezuelan constitution, to the poorest of the poor. Though not documented in this film Chavez has taken dramatic steps to educate and even arm his poorest citizens through direct action and citizen groups. For further analysis of Venezuela under Chavez see:

To me it seems impossible that this man is a tool of the NWO. The pieces just don't fall into place, he has been too great a thorn in Washington's side, too good to his people and his efforts to create a broad anti-NWO coalition throughout South America with Bolivia, Ecuador, and Nicaragua to name a few seems like proof positive that he is a true beacon of hope for those of us who oppose the NWO. Much like Seyid Hassan Nasrallah, secretary general of Hizbullah and Muqtada Al Sadr, leader of the Iraqi Mahdi army, Chavez is severely vilified by the mainstream media... but in reality those three men are some of the most important living revolutionaries today because of their genuine commitment to their people and to the resistance. Please watch the video and decide for yourself!
