Colbert Does a Job on Fox

Watch Higher Quality & Larger Size HERE

Daily Show's John Oliver put togther a stunning smackdown of Fox News
on last night's show, punctuated by some damning clips showing egregious
comments from some anchors (John Gibson, natch) and some —gasp!—
flip-flopping on certain positions (like, say, executive privilege).

Watch as Oliver tries to sneak into Fox HQ dressed as the Statue of
Liberty, hosts a pundit shoutfest, and waves many flags. Featuring Rupert
Murdoch, Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Neil Cavuto, Chris
Wallace, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Bill Hemmer, Megyn
Kelly, Jim Pinkerton, Peter Hart, Newt Gingrich and the super-chipper
Gretchen Carlson.

Stewart and Colbert are first-order corporate media whores.

For a while I watched and thought that I enjoyed their shows. Then it dawned on me that every time they had a war criminal on as a guest, the guest got a free pass - softball questions, sugary sweet, a touch of acid to make it look real.

I won't even bother to watch the clip(s) you posted.

Don't mind me.....
It's just that I have a wierd thing about humor.
See, I laugh at just about everything.
Incl. bits of life that aren't funny.
Damm healthy.

And....
I think John Oliver has got great comic timing.
Far better than Colbert's.

I can not get the clips to play in my AdBlocked NoScripted Firefox. Wants to play Comedy Central's front page which currently shows a SouthPark clip.

In complete agreement with carcdr on this one as I too no longer watch corporate / political whores Colbert and Stewart.

Some of their "correspondents" are pretty good, such as Samantha B, John Oliver and Lewis Black, but ultimately they all know who butters their toast.

Kinda like me and the oil patch.

I also tend to separate comedy and political reality. I can't stand Rush Limbaugh, yet I laugh when he says something that is truly funny.

But comedy is effectively used to massage opinion - particularly put-down comedy, which also infuriates me as it makes sure everyone knows at all times who is "behaving normally" and who is "a freak to be ridiculed" by their peers.

I think Colbert is the most brilliant, quick-witted comedian to come along in a long time. But let's not forget that both he and Jon Stewart are employees under the thumb of Sumner Rothstein (or Redstone, for those who prefer the less overtly Jewish, less culturally honest, non-Germanic versions of surnames).
