Parable of the Old Man and the Young
Â
So Abram rose, and clave the wood, and went,
And took the fire with him, and a knife.
And as they sojourned both of them together,
Isaac the first-born spake and said, My Father,
Behold the preparations, fire and iron,
But where the lamb for this burnt-offering?
Then Abram bound the youth with belts and straps,
and builded parapets and trenches there,
And stretchèd forth the knife to slay his son.
When lo! an angel called him out of heaven,
Saying, Lay not thy hand upon the lad,
Neither do anything to him. Behold,
A ram, caught in a thicket by its horns;
Offer the Ram of Pride instead of him.
But the old man would not so, but slew his son,
And half the seed of Europe, one by one.

Happiness by Raymond Carver
So early it's still almost dark out.
I'm near the window with coffee,
and the usual early morning stuff
that passes for thought.
When I see the boy and his friend
walking up the road
to deliver the newspaper.
They wear caps and sweaters,
and one boy has a bag over his shoulder.
They are so happy
they aren't saying anything, these boys.
I think if they could, they would take
each other's arm.
It's early in the morning,
and they are doing this thing together.
They come on, slowly.
The sky is taking on light,
though the moon still hangs pale over the water.
Such beauty that for a minute
death and ambition, even love,
doesn't enter into this.
Happiness. It comes on
unexpectedly. And goes beyond, really,
any early morning talk about it.

I of the beholder
So there you are, within that I,
beheld but not beholden.
Creating light and second sight
a vision of where you'll end.
Exact no measure nor a price
for it can not be sold or bought.
The lesson that we gain from this
is all that which our self has taught. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

Architects of our own salvation
Builders of a better day.
Careful not to be deluded.
Duty calls us to that goal
Every time and everywhere.
Freeing all from ancient bonds
Greatness is our destiny.
Hallowed be the path we take
Into the void and then beyond.
Just reward for efforts made
Keeping safe that sacred trust
Letting in the light of day
Many called but few that answer
Nothing left to lose, they say.
Only pride and false pretenses
Putting out what cannot stay
Questioning their place and way.
Really there is but one method
Sense and reason, no dismay
Timing is a revelation
Until the dawning of this day
Virtue is the just reward
When the end becomes beginning
X the unknown is displayed
You and I together, forever
Zero chance we'll go astray. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

Footprints trace a path on an endless beach,
Waves crash and wash away remnants of what once was.
Unmarked sand stretches out beckoning our approach,
The setting sun frames a destination where sea and land meet.
With each step, a new beginning takes on meaning,
Together and forever, advancing hand in hand, step by step.
Walking into that sun’s gentle warmth and subtle glow,
We become one with the world and its ebb and flow. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

Yep, Peter. Wot' Bri said.
Poetic flow suits you.
That last one is such excellent and eloquent expression.
Summarizes much of the impetus of my treeincarnation.
So succinctly! :-) _________________ Minds are like parachutes.

It's all about inspiration and I have to say that this site and its contributors have inspired me more than any other non-intimate connection. Clearly, this last one was all about treeincarnation and its theme song. Having been to the Costa del sol recently, the beach reference was still fresh.
Whoever called this world a prison planet miss-spoke. A prism planet where all the facets of existence are there to be examined and exploited. Truly a wonderful time and place to be alive. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

In memoir I am
Bereft of life but freedom gained
Released from all our bonds and ties
At sentence end, our story told.
More than a memory of what once was
Creative font of that to come.
For there is more, as we go on
Beyond the pale and earthly veil
Returned to our more natural state.
Of being and not just a cog
in cosmic clockwork, time and place.
Fear not and do not grieve this loss
As that was just a passing phase
We'll meet again in a new space
To celebrate and consecrate
Our return to immaculate grace. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

Creation is a fickle thing
that rises from ashes complete.
Divine fire that burns with ease
Made with the chains from which we're freed.
Released from that which held us back
We forge ahead and make amends
For all that was but never is
Illusion's price that we must pay
To know reality's lament. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |
