I often wonder what a film is trying to tell the viewer. Its really interesting
watching films again that i've seen in the past, now that i understand the topics.

Some films i never thought had a serious story now seem to have hidden
meanings. eg.

V For Vendetta Near future Britain as a police state.

Robocop films 3rd is about a 1 corporation dominated america with there own
police with powers over the real police and governmnet. They are
throwing the public out of homes to develop an area and call any resisters
"terrorists" so have powers to shoot on sight.

The Matrix Probably don't need to explain this one.

Equilibrium Christian Bail plays an officer who hunts down the rebels who refuse
to take an anti emotion drug that has ended all crime and war. He breaks his
dose one day and starts to feel emotion and has to decide which side he should be fighting for.

Aeon Flux And Ultraviolet are both similar storys but not as good to watch

I love What The Bleep Do We Know. Really gets you thinking.

I'm never sure if these types of films are planted propergander or
genuine attempts to tell of thngs to come. Some are very high budget
and must have the backing of the PTB to even get made.

Add to that a new Clive Owen film called "The International", about a world bank run amok that is discovered to be dealing in murder for hire, and defends itself against all incursions with lethal force.

The trailers are running in front of all major films right now.

I've just watched the trailer. Great example.

I'm sure there's a pretty big list of similar TV shows.

I've just watched the first box set of 24. Never wanted to watch them but my wife borrowed them off her friend so i thought i'd watch them with her. Elisha Cuthbert's not bad to look at either.

First season is all about the election and attempted assassination of the first black man with a chance of becoming president. Senator Palmer, who's name when pronounced on the show sounds alot like Obama. (What are the chances??)

We've just started watching the second season. Palmer is now president and a nuke is set to go off in LA. (Hmmmm)

Every episode is full of examples of the power anti terror laws have over the rights of americans and tries to show how they need these laws to keep everyone safe.

Again like alot of these films It seems to constantly hint that there's people within government working against the interests of the country etc.

I'm starting to think they're at the point of wanting to wake a large number of people up to whats going on just to create chaos.

It also fits in well with my own personal overview of all things 9/11, in that it eventually - with much time/distance - will be allowed to be revealed in a very limited hangout sort of way, that "elements within the govt allowed" it to happen. You know, just a bunch of evil, Right-Wing imperialists run amok.

A final straw to break the back of the US govt, when it's time to officially hand over sovereignty to the global powers.

In regards to "24", the few times I could stand to watch it (I had a gf who was addicted) I noticed a common theme of "we need to bend the laws to protect you." Reinforcing not only the urgency and reality of the danger from "terra", but making sure everyone knows our own civil rights laws are hopelessly draconian and outdated in such a dangerous new world. Confused

"The Nines" is worth seeing. It completely surprised me, especially as it seems to have had a very large budget. I usually go for lower budget American pictures by John Cassavetes, Jon Jost, Caveh Zahedi, and others unless you are talking about old-school hollywood.

I can't reveal the details of the movie as it would spoil everything. I suggest seeing it as soon as you can. It touches upon a lot of material similar to Tree Incarnation, and worked a lot better for me than other movies in the "genre" such as "Donnie Darko". Less cute and just as gripping with repeated viewings.

Watched the nines last night bri.

I see what you mean about why such a mainstream type movie would touch
on this kind of subject.

Not for everyone though. My wife hated it.

I found it a bit slow at times but it was interesting.

Anyone else noticed the word "Zeitgeist" being used a lot in the MSM lately?

Watched "the nines" the other night and i can't remember exactly how they
got it in there, but their was a really obviouse attempt to use the word when
it just didn't fit into the scene. I also think i've heard it used in 24.

I think someone wants us to see Zeitgeist. Think i might have mentioned
before that a saturday boy who works for me said everyone in his collage
got a link to Zeitgeist through their collage email.

Yes, it seems to be everywhere...my dental hygienist even asking me if I had seen it.

Strange times...

Ryan's character erroneously refers to a poltergeist as a Zeitgeist.

Smashing Pumpkins last CD was also called Zeitgeist. At the time, I thought it may have been a way to channel a lot of Google searches away from the film, towards a pop act.

Angles and Demons

Wow, that's some aggressive marketing. Kind of like DaVinci Code meets American Idol.

Did Hanks' character say "Illuminati"? I'm anxious to see the finished product. I am expecting a similar treatment of the subject that corruption in the diamond trade got in "Blood Diamond." Validate the subject briefly, expose a few half-truths, yet render it into either the realm of "it's just a movie" or "it's real, but all this stuff have been fixed now."
