Fox News reported that the FBI will be there. And there are reports of their being at least 2 shooters. It smells like psyop.

Sandra Uttley(aka 'Dale') was right!

I've been saying for some time that America will see (staged) gun massacre after gun massacre in the next few years to try and get the sort of gun control brought in after Dunblane (in Britain) and after Port Arthur (in Australia).

Re: the photo: I'm born and raised in the states, lived there almost all my life, and that's the FIRST time I have EVER seen an Oriental involved in violent crime.

Psy-Op? You bet!

Copied over from my February "Handgun" thread:

Quote:
What's interesting is that MSNBC just ran a phone call from a Columbine parent, Rich Petrone, who went on and on about how Columbine was never fully explained, and that "no one really knows the truth." He complained about a official coverup, wrong initial info, "police stonewalling" and government indifference to details and reality.

The MSNBC anchor chick immediately tried to steer his comments away from "lies" and "govt involvement" towards "warning signs" that could have helped avoid the crime.

NBC News says two law enforcement officials told a reporter that the gunman killed himself. The network says the gunman used two 9-mm handguns during the rampage.

Virginia Tech is holding another press conference right now. The police chief says the gunman died at the scene and that investigators are still trying to determine whether he took his own life. At least one news organization is reporting that the gunman committed suicide.

I think all of us are aware enough to know that any day
we can see some major events like this one. It has real
spooky Columbine overtones!

Here's the latest oddity, according to my girlfriend, who was glued to the set from the opening reports:

The gunman killed 2 people initially, then... as police arrived at that scene, he apparently walked across the campus to another location, and TWO HOURS LATER, he began the real carnage, where he padlocked exit doors to a building and began silently shooting everyone he saw.

During those 2 hours, the police said the campus had been "in lock down." Not sure how a lock down allows an armed man to enter a building and begin killing 29 more people. Shocked

Gunman kills 30 in rampage at Virginia university

By Brian Knowlton
Published: April 16, 2007

WASHINGTON: At least 30 people were killed and 29 were wounded Monday at Virginia Tech University in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history and one of the worst anywhere.
It was not immediately clear how many of the victims were students, and how many were other campus personnel or visitors. The police said the man they believed to have been the only gunman was killed. They could not say whether he was a student. The police said there were shootings in two buildings on campus about two hours apart.

[...]

The first shooting reported occurred about 7:15 a.m. on the fourth floor of a large residence hall, Ambler Johnston. With 895 residents, Ambler Johnston is one of the largest dormitories in the country and generally houses freshmen; students refer to it as "Animal House." Steger said there were "multiple shooting victims" there.

The assault continued two hours later across campus, at Norris Hall, an engineering building. Between the attacks - a matter that has raised immediate questions - the campus was not secured.

A freshman, Aimee Kanode, told The Associated Press that the hall's resident assistant had knocked on her door about 8 a.m. to tell students to stay in place.

"They had us under lockdown," Kanode said. "They temporarily lifted the lockdown. The gunman shot again."

[...]

WTF?

That's about the most effective response I've seen since 911.

And this is exactly what Al was worried about. Darn them hillbillies.

Quote:
Virginia has lenient gun-ownership laws. Ownership requires only passing criminal background checks, which can be bypassed by buying from an unlicensed dealer. And unlicensed dealers can sell their wares at gun shows without requiring criminal checks. Guns need not be registered unless the owner wants to carry a concealed weapon.
While gun control has not been a major issue in the United States in recent years - Al Gore, the former vice president, is thought to have harmed his presidential bid in 2000 by advocating some controls - the killings Monday appeared certain to revive the issue.

Issue? What issue?

Quote:
Americans were deeply shocked by the April 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, when two students killed 12 fellow students, a teacher and then themselves.

On Aug. 1, 1966, Charles Whitman, firing from a 28-story clock tower on the University of Texas campus, killed 15 people and wounded dozens of others before being killed by the Austin police.

Last October, a 32-year-old man entered a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania and shot 10 schoolgirls, then killed himself. Five of the girls died.

The Virginia shooting also surpassed the worst shootings of recent years in Europe. In April 2002, 18 people, including 14 teachers, died in Erfurt, Germany, when an expelled former student went on a shooting rampage.

That was the worst such shooting in Europe since 1996, when a gunman in Dunblane, Scotland, killed 16 students, a teacher and then himself.

Though it was a far different sort of incident, more than 340 people were killed in September 2004 at a school in Beslan, Russia, in a confrontation between Chechen hostage-takers and Russian security forces.

Oh that issue.

Apparently the only safe place for a student is at the mall.
