great audio, Mr Fintan. thanks!

regarding spy guy - what do you suppose he had on those memory chips?

regarding bono - whatever keeps him away from a microphone...

regarding gold for oil - what did the west expect them to do?

regarding french elections - elections are about the only thing keeping the media going. that's basically where all the money gets spent, no? actually, if a leader came along that fixed everything perfectly, i'm pretty sure no further elections would be necessary. Laughing

you still have to realize that all these other countries are just as self-righteous as the next. just because china seems to be doing the right things does not make them wonderful. they basically work the angle of underdog, which is ridiculous since they are wealthier than god. they steal information - oh, that's supposed to be endearing i guess. kinda like being a robin hood, huh? sorry, i do not side with them.

iran. the whole thing there, real or not about their nukes, is nothing more than a proxy war against the other superpowers, just as it has always been in modern times and probably way before that for centuries. (i also do not side with israel. these nations are caught up in bullshit... sad for humanity. average people at the mercy of bullies and puppets of bullies.)

not to endorse mitt romney, but he said it the other day (paraphrasing here): if america doesn't stay on top, someone else will.

the "problem" is that it (staying on top) is fucking up the economy, but i can't help but assume that this piece of information is not a secret, nor is it something that those in places of control wouldn't have figured out how to deal with. what's their worse-case scenario? that gold rules the world? that the west goes down the shithole? these fat-cats will be just fine. the rest of us are in no more or less of a mediocre life than in most places on earth. it's a bunch of rich people flashing their dicks, as always, to prove who has the biggest one.

the issue in the USA is simple: 300 million people cannot carry the world economy, even if we were the leading producers. it's impossible with fossil fuels and other diminishing resources, not to mention the pollution it causes. but that's essentially the problem everywhere. so the only thing these fat-cats CAN do for now is play these "who's on first" games. and when we finally move away from fossil fuels, i'm pretty sure there will be a whole 'nuther reason to continue the game... particularly if world population continues to be problematic with dwindling resources, crazy fuckers who are hell-bent on being the richest and most famous, or wanting to rule with religious laws, and all the other reasons why people are discontent and decide to organize in vast numbers.

why can't we all get along? because getting along is not the natural instinct of man. if i were to piss you off because my opinion is different from yours, i'm pretty sure we wouldn't be getting along. now add things of value to that equation. it is impossible to live on this green earth without placing values on anything.

meantime, places like fukushima are a huge threat to life on earth, not to mention various natural occuring disasters besides the idiots who continue to take us to the brink of annihilation. (fuku... fuck you. how appropriate.)

Loving the new direction Fintan, fantastic stuff Very Happy

@ RedManha - In fairness don;t think Fintan is taking sides. It is a significant event which illustrates a seismic shift in the balance of power.

To go further I would say that 'The Next Level' is about overcoming taking sides and understanding that rigidly clinging to one side is a recipe for disaster....

well, i'm sorry lyspy if i came across as accusing Fintan of taking sides. i guess i am seeing so many people flying foreign flags on facebook, that i'm beginning to wonder whether they need to emigrate.

somehow i doubt they would be happier.

yes, that clip was funny James D. funny the way we just don't ever know really what the "other guy" has in mind. (i have not seen this movie, so i might be taking it out of context, not knowing who the good or bad guys are... but i think that it makes a good point.)

Happy they won't be, but would they be anyway - doing nothing?

You touched on something there Red-M.
Right now in Spain - it's happening again! They're (wanting or) realizing that they have to - There's No Work!

"Proxy wars".

Didn't want to start another thread for this but wanted to ask about the recent thing with the "leaked document". This regarding DoD's role in containing possible fallout down the road. Civil fallout due to...well, having been looted on a long term basis.

They of course are referring to fema camps and all that.

Now there's also the recent articles about Fukushima's #4 reactor's containment pool which is damaged. This perhaps leading to a knock out punch if the water drains out due to another mishap.

Two major items of concern....

However and I haven't done DD follow up but the curious or annoying thing about both write ups is that Alex J, Mike Adams and Arnie G. were written by or mentioned in either or both. We can of course find these scenarios addressed at other sites but it's hard to tell if it's simply mirroring or not.

At last shareholders have started voting against big pay awards and a few big chiefs have resigned. One might even believe that the bastions of our society, which seems to be sinking every day deeper and deeper into doom and gloom, were grabbing at life jackets before the good ship Britanic sank.

Yes, the voices of the shareholders have started to be heard. Shareholders or investors, call them what you will but investors might be a better description of what they are. Without investors in British businesses all the CEO's might just as well take their next nest egg and retire off shore somewhere.

Which raises the point of what we are -the public. Are we not investors? Investors in the country. Investors in our companies. Call us customers, or taxpayers or investors but investors might be a more accurate description of what we are.

When it came to the bailouts. Those unfortunate people who were sold mortgages as part of a new socialist deal - more people had to become homeowners, were not bailed out - it was the banks who acted frivilous with their money [or was it our money?]. The government was backing these mortgages, in a way, so the people were not going to turn down the offer of their own home. It was the government's idea, wasn't it. At least it was Maggies idea -selling Council houses - she wasn't a socialist.

The bail outs should have gone to those with the mis-sold mortgages. Without mortgages to pay the average person's spending power increases thus creating demand or at least the opportunity to create a demand. Yet, what happened was that the person who had once lifted their life-style [with the help of the government and the banks] dropped out of society and became a burden.

Instead who became the burden - the banks. The bailouts to the banks was recognition that it was governments agenda that had caused the trouble but by bailing out the defaultor rather than the creditor would this not have dealt with one side of the same coin?

Anyway, here is a guy who has been in banking for 30 years coming up with a idea for the future. It's obvious that no one has any idea of how to get out this mess - there are too many outside influences - too many cooks, to many chiefs to satisfy and that means too many directions to go in without a road map and without GPS and therefore we have no chance of getting where we want to go and no idea where we want to go. The only thing that they seem to be doing is paying out billions hoping that someone leads us to the promised land. There will be no growth because we have grown to our full extent. We are now shrivalling up like people do when they get old and a little neglected.

This idea recognises that we, the customer, the taxpayer are investors who have been neglected. We have been investors all our working lives - so why not a Bank of Britain? A people's bank. Why is it that you mention such a thing and it is accused of being socialist. A capitalist's put-down.

Listen, if the banks who have so much money now but can't find a way to release it to turn the country around or a government who can't find a way to do the same thing through the banks then some other ideas are needed.

Unemployment is what, a socialist problem or a capitalist problem? Unemployment is a problem, full stop. Don't fetch in politicsand complicate the issue. So called Capitalism has caused the problem and the socialist idea of big government, jobs for the boys - jobs where there isn't jobs looks a better proposition than what we have today.

But, like I said don't associate a Bank of Britain a socialist idea. It is ideas that we want right now not politics. We need grass roots for growth. Growth will come from the people - upwards because it is damn well not coming downwards.

We don't hear much about building societies in the news - part of the financial world but are they not news worthy?

The public are investors in the building society world. Why can't we branch out and become investors in our future - investors in our country's future. At the moment we have no future in the hands of those who want to take out more than they want to put in. We have been putting in for years and just barely surviving.

Nick Stevens might have some interesting ideas, enough for an audio.

http://www.cityam.com/forum/bank-britain-the-best-way-build-big-society

HARD economic times call for bold measures. With evidence that the UK is back in a technical recession, we propose the creation of a Bank of Britain. This would be a citizen-focused bank, designed to advance the Big Society.

Yeah it is as complicated as necessary to avoid a real fix. Then there's the chicken-and-egg argument: Which came first, the greedy businessman or the lazy worker?

A little off-topic... My new tax proposal. A way to tax people, just not Americans:

Can you imagine adding a 1% tax to all employees of off-shored American jobs? Gazillions of Easterners paying into the US Soc Sec fund? But of course, that would be another disappearing act too. Any money the govt pulls in somehow will get lost to -

a. higher costs of running the mothership
b. more new programs
c. crony theivery
d. all of the above

Sorry, I had to come up with something to make everyone happy in America.

Seriously, I'm not sure anyone in the big leagues really wants a remedy for the "people." I think part of it is that they feel the ppopulation will just fuck it up in short order anyhow and/or create new elitist clubs.
