This is VERRRRY interesting. This guy, Tom Naughton, claims that the "terror" over LDL cholesterol and saturated fat is a scam perpetrated in the 70's. His research seems fairly solid, and I'm still trying to cross-check some of it.
http://fathead-movie.com/
The movie's been slammed as if it's a fast-food promo piece, and it's not. It's just trying to say that saturated fat at those venues is NOT the real culprit, it's the carbs. Naughton actually lost weight, and lowered his LDL and triglycerides on a 1 month all-fast food diet, eating the meat, skipping the buns.
He doesn't surmise anything evil behind this scam, but if true, I do. I maintain quite assuredly that anything that keeps the masses sick and dependent on medication is a deliberate windfall, and if we have been sold a bill of goods about cholesterol and fat - while the real culprits are high blood sugar levels from excessive carbohydrate ("eat your whole grains!") - then another huge puzzle piece fits perfectly. (Also, animal fat is apparently much healithier than fats from plants oils.) Some great breakdowns on how fats, sugars, cholesterol and insulin work in the blood stream. It's not the simple "this is bad, this is good" stuff we're spoon-fed in the MSM.
Btw, it features quite prominently Dr. Al Sears, author of the P.A.C.E. exercise program (that kicks ass, and that I'm currently on) and who has been interviewed here in BFN.
Maybe Dr Atkins was dead on. And now he's just dead.
Worth a look, at any rate. I watched the film, it's funny and educational, and reveals a lot about the history of the government sanctioned approach to "heart health."

Most of what we are told by 'modern medicine' is fraud/hoax crap designed to keep us in a perpetual state of fear/anxiety that can be relieved only by spending billion$$ for 'health care' (LOL).
I'm glad I finally discovered metaphysical/homeopathic health through Christian Science and other means. No doctors, drugs, 'check-ups', 'health insurance', hospitals for me, thank you. |

Seems reasonable.
Sedentary lifestyles don't help. Weight-training and cardiovascular exercise can make the difference. Caloric intake based on "hunger" (not thirst or food-appeal) is part of being in tune with yourself.
At 1m85 and 80 kg. (Not quite 6'1" and 180 lb) I may have spent an hour a day on "mindless" exercise routines but the cardio lets me catch up on my reading and I can watch the late-night taped shows while I do the exercises. You also sleep better when your body is not living on adrenaline (stress) and carbs (quick meals).
A balanced lifestyle means counteracting the butt-spreading effects of desk-jockeying. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos.

Exposing the Cholesterol Myth (with Dr Mercola):
What's amusing to me is - from the discussions in these Mercola and Fat Head videos - one of the best meals you can eat is one my favorite "vices". A big fat steak, red wine and some dark chocolate. (And I always skip the rolls because they're not gluten-free.) The steak for the useful fats and protein, and the red wine and dark choc for their anti-oxidant properties.
There's a line in Woody Allen's Sleeper, where far in the future the doctors examining him find out "he ran a health food store." One doctor asks, "You mean there were no red meats, no deep fudge??!" "No," the other doctors laughs, "Those were thought to be 'unhealthy.' Just the opposite of what we now know." And they chuckle.
Which further reminds me of one of my favorite comedy albums, Firesign Theatre's Everything You Know is Wrong.

A competition bodybuilder in LA pointed out to me long ago that eating fat does NOT make you fat, because fat is lipotropic, in other words fat burns fat.
The only thing that makes you fat is refined carbohydrates(aka refined sugar in all it's "ose's"). |

Sugar and Starch:
The oddly coincidental timing of the "eat less fat" message and the explosion of Type II Diabetes. How the "eat more grain" meme has turned us into a nation of diabetics.
'Normal' blood sugar is represented by just under a teaspoonful of sugar. The US Govt 'recommends' we eat 300 carbs per day, or 2.5 cups of sugars. |

Great job getting this info out there Rump! If you get a chance, check out "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. It's quite a read, but many "alternative" nutritionists will refer to this book as their "Bible." Here is Taubes on Larry King...he does the best he can before the circus descends (led by the devil himself, Dr. Oz):
I'm glad you brought up the idea of this low-fat scam being evil. This is one thing that most of the alternative nutritionists won't touch, but since the nature of this site is much different than most, thankfully we can!
Keeping the public from eating fat and cholesterol will not only keep them fat, but will have all sorts of horrible effects, as fat contains many essential vitamins and cholesterol is found in each and every one of our cell membranes. Not to mention the impact of replacing fat with carbs. Taubes links just about every "disease of civilization" to this preference for carbs over fat, and I for one definitely don't think the promotion of this diet is an accident.
The subject of intentionality is a hard one to broach though, because it is difficult to find any direct evidence of it and if you ask someone to believe that there is something sinister behind the people telling us what to eat, well then their mind starts to wander to a place they don't really want it to go. But the great thing about getting proper nutrition is that people can SEE this, and thus the ability to plant a seed is greatly enhanced.
What I usually try to say is that the medical/pharmaceutical industry really has no interest in curing us. Then they lose a customer. Thus they don't really have to have sinister intentions, they just have to lack altruistic ones, which is an easier pill for most people to swallow.
Another great source for info is the Weston Price Foundation, and Dr. Price's book is an incredible (and more easily digestible) read as well.

Right on. We're so pathetically nourished now that fears about our health are providing the springboard for these NWO cocksuckers. I can only hope they practice what they preach, get their fiber, eat their margarine, and die a slow, painful death. And yes, its very nice not having to worry about going to the doctor (or the dentist, or the psychiatrist, or the...) _________________ "Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is"- Albert Camus |

Here's part two of that interview with Gary Taubes. Dr. Andrew Weil is on board. Dancing puppets Jillian Michaels and Dr. Oz are not:

I have nothing of substance to add here. Just wanted to express how grateful I am for being exposed to the material on this thread. Grabbed the doc from TBP and watched it twice now. Great stuff. Passing copies along to friends and family.
As an aside, I was pursuing a similar diet several months ago after reading up on techniques to promote tooth enamel growth (which dentists will tell you is impossible). Great to know a low grain, high protein/fat diet will benefit the mouth and heart. |
