|
|
I had a job interview recently with a manufacturing company. I'm rather certain I have the job but as I toured the factory I realized the parts I would be making would most certainly be involved in killing people overseas, however offhandedly. Jets. It came out from them as "making sure everything works correctly so our boys (and ladies now) can do their job and not get kilt' "
The money is calling. It's a big upgrade from what I'm doing now.
Any thoughts? I respect everyone's opinion here.

I know this sounds trite, but it's true..... if you don't do it, someone else will. You turning that gig down isn't going to throw any monkey wrenches into the gears. And look at it this way - while in that work environment, you might even meet someone who's ear you can bend a little as to 'reality.'
It doesn't do any of us "reality theorists" (or our cause) any good to go poor or turn down money/work. |

| I appreciate that Rump, and that point isn't trite at all. |

It's a hard one for your soul/karma/conscience or whatever.
You KNOW that those parts will become parts of things that will be "used by some bad/evil/stupid mofo" to kill innocent women and children for THE MAN.
Does that mean that you will have killed them or played some part in it? - NO!
The one who gives the order and the one who carries it out. Guns don't kill people - people do!
Enjoy your upgrade. See what you can learn. There's a reason for everything.
But remember that "All Your Bases Are Belong to Us"!
So we'll be expecting regular updates once you're inside.
At the end of the day you can always take the greatest delight in getting yourself sacked and not giving a f**k!
That really hurts THE MAN
It's the biggest kick in the balls you could give him - he has no power - he just can't figure it out! |

| If you are involved in designing and manufacturing a more efficient killing machine, one that uses less fuel, bullets, and manpower then you could say that you are "going green" and therefore it is the right thing to do! good luck. I'd take a job upgrade for sure. |

I feel ya bri.
It makes me sick thinking about what kinds of devious shit they are going to be using my knowledge for.
This might interest you.
"My experience starting grad school."
___I originally started grad school on a naval grant, and they said they would keep me a nice cozy position working for the navy(as a civilian) when i get my phd (unknown position). The advisor i had to work for was 2 shy's away from a Nazi (he was from Bangladesh FYI, but that doesn't matter). The guy is shady, and if you ask me most likely an intelligence plant. He used to be in the Air force (unknown rank) and also worked for the navy himself as a researcher before coming to the university. He has a particular way of "breaking in" new students, by literally breaking them. It was like military style brainwashing, 60-80 hours a weeks, blatantly breaching the contract that we signed as to work conditions. Which the dept seemed to ignore. His research was super secret too, when i would ask about it, id get blasted. I worked for nearly a whole semester without knowing wtf i was working on.
___After digging around i started to put pieces together that he was working on some type of supercomputer device technology, but im not sure if that was the project i was involved with. But i do know, his research was almost always funded by the Air Force or Navy, and was required to sign non-disclosure agreements.
___I wont get into the details, but methods such as sleep deprivation, intense ridicule, racism, insatiable mind games, embarrassment and threats were all his ways of breaking his students into robots. He wont deny it either, and would tell me everyday, how I'm supposed to act, and admittedly attempted to kill off my inquisitive nature (as I'm a physicist). He openly hated physicists calling them stupid, because they aren't machines. Simply put, the navy found the most egotistical, privileged, miserable, pretentious, asshole they could find to train(i.e beat down) their drones. The University doesn't seem to mind this either, as he was promoted to Assistant Dean of Research.
___After he started threating me, i started talking to a few of his bosses which got me nowhere. His brainwashing methods were so extreme and bizarre it was hard to explain without coming off as a little odd, especially in the weak emotional state it leaves you in. Which never helped my case. I finally went to the Dean of the entire university, who was very nice and did help me out. Although as predicted he acted shocked like this has never happened before. ("Oh? But ive never had a problem with 'so-n-so' before.") Which i believe is bullshit, because since i quit, this guy has had three other students who also wanted to quit but could not stand up to the threats and ended up staying with him. I talk to them daily, which recently has turned into a pseudo group therapy session.
___This is policy for them, they have no interest in stopping the madness. He lures students in with promises of high salary jobs and exciting research just to turn around and stomp em into mush. Kids these days are obsessed about their "future" and dangling guaranteed good jobs in their face makes it extremely hard for them to stand up to the abuse. And when you try to quit he aggressively attempts to make you think your throwing your whole life away and will end up being a loser without him. It makes me sick that this type of shit is going on right under our noses at some of the most prominent universities and colleges in the world. Straight up brainwashing.
___Needless to say, I finished up the semester with the asshole and quit, post pace. I wasn't about to let someone turn me into a robot, although it did start to get to me after a while and became noticeable. Even my fam started worrying about me, and i consider myself a strong willed person.
___And that made me think the type of workers they are looking for for positions at the navy are simply robots with broken free-will, easily manipulated. So i turned down the job, not that i wanted to work for the navy in the first place. I still feel I'm better off. I might not get the cozy 6 fig salary, but ill keep my sanity.
The more paranoid side of me thinks, they were attempting to drive me crazy on purpose, but ill leave that one alone for now.
Just do what you think is the right thing to do, and you'll be better off, guaranteed.

Bri, you used up your free will as you came into this reality. Therefore, you can't be wrong you can only go wrong.
That being said, take the upgrade and see how it suits you. If you fit in, find your track and get where you were headed, that was it. If it doesn't suit you....NEXT!
Every option is what you make of it. _________________ The grand design, reflected in the face of Chaos. |

Money: I've had tons and I've had none, never did I feel any different in either circumstance, only when I had to do something that I truly hated, hated with a passion, did I say take it and shove it.
Money has never had any influence on what I think or what I believe in any way EVER-Never let it be the case, if you do you'll live to regret it.
Remove yourself from the equation by doing your job and leaving the job at the business when you punch out. It's just a job, but usually most people bring it home, talk about it at functions, parties, over beers-- because they allow the job to become their life-don't do that, resist it at all costs. Give yourself to the job on THEIR TIME, not yours!
Best of luck!
